Loved him in Northern Exposure. Most famous Native American/First Nation actor?

Read alittle about him, he is from the Canada Onedia tribe....but when he played the "holy man" in DANCES WITH WOLVES he had to learn LAKOTA...which he practiced 8 hours a day 7 days a week for several months, "hell; don't even speak my tribes language" no one to talk to. He also played against character in LONGMIRE,as a really bad drug dude....i will miss this very special actor.
