Springs set to fine motorists who leave pets in hot cars

People in Idaho Springs who leave animals in hot cars will be subject to a fine of up to $2,600, and police now have the authority to break into locked vehicles to rescue the animals.

The city says it won’t be responsible for reimbursing owners for damage to vehicles.
