Fire district board decides not to pursue bond issue

The Evergreen Fire Protection District board voted Sunday not to pursue a proposed multimillion-dollar bond issue that would have paid for the replacement of Station 1, citing a number of factors, including a need for further exploration of long-term costs associated with rebuilding the station and competition with ballot measures from Jeffco Public Schools.

But the request for a 3.5-mill tax hike will be on the November ballot.
