While people the world over knew Earl “Al” Huffman as “Buffalo Bill” Cody, many mountain area residents knew him as a community leader, a family man and a friend.
Huffman, a longtime Evergreen resident, died last Thursday at the age of 84.
In addition to being a well-known Buffalo Bill impersonator, Huffman was a staple of the mountain community and a charter member of the Evergreen Elks Lodge.
Charles Shirley, a Conifer resident, said he first met Huffman while working at the Elks Lodge. Shirley described Huffman as a “very active and highly respected” member of the lodge who always had lots of stories to tell.
