Program to shelter homeless up and running in Evergreen

More than 200 volunteers are prepared to provide the area’s homeless with a warm meal and a place to sleep now that temperatures have gotten colder.

Evergreen’s Emergency Shelter Program went into action two weeks ago, though as of Friday no one had yet taken advantage of the program, according to program director Kaethe Zellner.

“We have nine people pre-registered,” Zellner said, “but nobody has actually shown up to use it.”
