Alpine Rescue Team responds to trio of calls

The Alpine Rescue Team responded to three calls Sunday evening and nearly all at the same time — breaking a record for the volunteer organization.

Alpine Rescue spokeswoman Dawn Wilson said the three calls were associated with the rescue team's busiest areas: Mount Evans, Mount Bierstadt and Torrey's Peak.

Wilson said a lot of people are going to these spots and are unprepared. "A lot of them over the last couple of months have not been prepared," Wilson said. "We don't know if they didn't look into it or if they overrated their abilities, they didn't have the right equipment. So a lot of that has been going on."

Wilson said they were all fortunate that their cell phones were working.
