John Steinle, who retired last year from the helm of Hiwan Homestead Museum, has put together a book on the history of Evergreen, and he is unveiling it this month.
Called simply “Evergreen,” the 128-page book is filled with more than 200 photos of Evergreen between 1859 and 2009.
Steinle — along with several other authors who’ve written about the area’s history — will present their books and sign them at a special event at Augustana Elk Run Assisted Living in Evergreen on Aug. 23 called the Historical Authors Book Launch and Signing. Books will be available for purchase.
In addition to Steinle, Hank Alderfer, who has published a collection of his Canyon Courier columns called “Yesteryear,” will read sections of his book.
Also scheduled to appear are Bonnie Scudder, author of “Secrets of Elk Creek, Shaffer’s Crossing, Staunton State Park and Beyond,” and Carole Lamond, who wrote “Jefferson County Colorado: A Unique and Eventful History” and “Lariat Loop.”
