All of the hard work that the Evergreen poms team put in for the past months finally paid off on Saturday in the 4A state spirit competition at the Denver Coliseum.

The Cougars placed 12th in the pool of 24 teams, scoring a 74.4667.

Their routine included a variety of moves, including a triple turn, six tours into a double turn and aerials.

[Senior captain Morgan] Collins said that leading up to the event, the team practiced five days a week for hours on end to ensure that it would be able to give its best possible performance.

“I thought they did awesome. Their energy was good, and they were ready to dance,” head coach Laura Grissom said. “I’m so proud of them.”
