An Evergreen man was charged on Thursday with attempted homicide and assault after he allegedly attacked three people and then barricaded himself inside his home last week.
David Charles Roberts, 30, was taken into custody around 10 a.m. on Dec. 27 after a nine-hour standoff in the 29000 block of Pine Road near Evergreen High School. He is being held on $250,000 bond.
According Pam Russell, spokeswoman for the District Attorney's Office, in his first court appearance on Thursday, Roberts was advised of the 20 charges against him, which are:
· Three counts of attempted second degree homicide.
· Three counts of second degree assault.
· Six counts of menacing.
· Three counts of third degree assault.
· Three counts of violating a protection order.
· Two counts of violent crime.
Russell said that second degree assault requires serious bodily injury and is a felony, while third degree assault is a misdemeanor.
Roberts' girlfriend, who was among those he reportedly attacked, has a protection order against him, which covered a variety of things. The three counts of violating a protection order are in regard to different things he was restrained from doing, Russell clarified.
Roberts has until Jan. 11 to schedule a preliminary hearing, she stated.
