A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a home in the 12000 block of Danny Avenue in Pine despite efforts from five departments and agencies in the area.

According to Jacob Ware, deputy fire chief for Elk Creek Fire, the department was dispatched to a structure fire with possible trapped residents at 12426 Danny Avenue at 3:54 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, first responders found heavy fire on the back of the home and “attempted to make an interior search and fire attack.” However, conditions deteriorated rapidly and firefighters halted their search for trapped individuals in order to try to put the fire out.

Two dogs were killed in the fire, and a firefighter suffered minor burns for which he was treated and later released.
