When it comes to food, Kathy Stanley believes in creating a win-win situation for everyone.

Stanley is the founder and director of Joy’s Kitchen, a nonprofit that collects food supermarkets are ready to throw away and provides it to those who need it. It’s a simple, but relatively new concept that takes many volunteers to see it through — and one that has come to the Evergreen area since the end of October.

Joy’s Kitchen is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. every other Saturday at Ascent Church in Evergreen.
