A 300-acre prescribed burn in Bailey’s Harris Park area is under consideration by the U.S. Forest Service for later this month.

Discussed at a public meeting April 30, the burn could potentially take place sometime in May if the weather conditions are right. According to Joe Sean Kennedy, district fire management officer for the U.S. Forest Service, the prescribed burn would be conducted in conjunction with the Platte Canyon Fire Department and would involve an area surrounded by the Harris Park “loop road” adjacent to the Harris Park Shooting Range.
