The armed man who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after barricading himself in a home in the 12500 block of southbound U.S. 285 last week has been identified as 37-year-old Charles Moore by the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office.

Moore is believed to have taken his 76-year old father and 69-year old mother hostage in their Conifer home the evening of May 7. According to Mark Techmeyer, spokesman for the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office, Moore’s father called 911 at 6:45 p.m., that night to report that his son had taken him and his wife hostage in their home. While Moore’s father escaped, his mother was held hostage before being safely removed from the home at 11:30 p.m.
