A Conifer cannabis company that sells a variety of therapeutic hemp and cannabis extract products has been sued for alleged patent infringement by a Golden-based biotechnology company specializing in the “development of cannabis as medicine.”

In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court on July 30, a lawyer for United Cannabis Corp. (UCANN) alleges that Pure Hemp Collective Inc. — which operates in Conifer, but also has an office in Aurora — infringed on the company’s “911 Patent,” which makes claims to several liquid cannabinoid formulations, including “those wherein at least 95 percent of the total cannabinoids is cannabidiol (CBD).”

While the lawsuit doesn’t specifically seek a dollar amount in damages, UCANN has requested that a jury decide the matter.Pure Hemp declined to comment on the lawsuit and directed the Courier to its lawyer, Donnie Emmi of Hunsaker Emmi P.C., who didn’t respond to requests for comment by press time.
