While John Steinle’s presentation on Ghost Towns of Jefferson Country wasn’t spooky, it certainly did leave many in the room speechless.
Local historian Steinle entertained and sometimes wowed the capacity crowd Sunday at The Little White Schoolhouse in Bradford Junction.
His presentation was backed by photos that even the longest tenured locals had never seen — such as what was and what is now left of Arapahoe City, once a gold-mining settlement, now known as Jefferson County.
“It’s just really fascinating to find out what was here before us,” said Bill Willcockson, who attended the event, “and I love old photographs, so I enjoyed seeing some of the photos of the old communities that you can still recognize some of their features.”
