The fire, which was called in around 3:55 p.m. Thursday, was tough to find but easy to handle thanks to help from last weekend’s snow.
“We were able to put a quick knockdown on it once we found it,” said Stacee Martin, spokeswoman with Evergreen Fire. “ … Good news is it did not extend into the trees or the surrounding grass area.”
Although Martin declined to share a specific address, she said the metal barn structure didn’t appear to be near a home. It was in an area without hydrants so water had to be trucked in via the department’s water tenders. All in all, 25 firefighters and 10 pieces of equipment were used to fight the flames.
