From jewelry to holiday crafts, woodworking to ceramics — the 34th annual Winterfest sponsored by Center for the Arts Evergreen was filled with one-of-a-kind gifts, and area residents turned out in large numbers to browse the booths.
“(Winterfest) is an Evergreen institution,” Steve Sumner, CAE’s executive director, said as he walked among the booths along Evergreen High School’s Main Street. “The quality of the arts and crafts just gets better and better. It has become a prestigious show.”
This year’s Winterfest had 85 vendors and 16 sponsors, who help pay for some of the expenses to keep booth-rental prices reasonable, Sumner said.
Friends Karyn Pedersen and Tammy Stortz, who say they’ve been attending Winterfest “since the beginning,” attend for two reasons: to see friends and acquaintances as they meander down through the show and to see the vendors both old and new.
“The artists are friendly and talented, and passionate about their work,” Pedersen said.
