Foothills residents frequent local shops for Small Business Saturday

A little wind and snow didn’t stop Evergreen and Conifer businesses from seeing an early boost to business during Small Business Saturday.

“It was a good, busy day in spite of the wind,” Laurie Ward, owner of Village Gourmet in Bergen Park said, adding that Saturdays typically are busy days at the home, cookware and kitchen store that expanded in May. It has many holiday items from dishes to bathrobes, gift wrap to ornaments.

Many of the out-of-town shoppers were brought into the store by locals who took their Thanksgiving company for a shopping excursion.

Small Business Saturday at Page Turner Books in Aspen Park included a coffee tasting. Four coffees were available, and patrons voted for their favorite, which will be the shop’s next standard brew. Upstairs at Luna’s Mandala, owner Luna — who prefers using that name while at the store — said business that day was beautiful.
