Evergreen’s Holiday Walk draws a crowd, offers new sights

Before traveling around the world on Christmas Eve, Santa made his annual stop in Evergreen on Friday night. He and Mrs. Claus let the reindeer have a break for the evening, and they rode into downtown atop a fire truck, as is their custom.

As they stepped off and prepared to light the large pine tree near Beau Jo’s, there were new faces in the crowd this year — youngsters who had never seen Santa or Mrs. Claus; families who were visiting relatives; and others who decided to venture to Evergreen for the first time to see what the annual Holiday Walk was all about.

Among the newcomers this year were Carla and Bucky Jaques of Evergreen, who said they and their two daughters moved to the area three years ago, but they had never been to the Holiday Walk. However, after seeing a flier around town, they decided they had to go.
“We moved to Evergreen for the community,” Carla said. “We’re so lucky to have things like this here.”
