After making changes during a Nov. 28 board meeting, Indian Hills Fire board is close to finalizing its 2019 budget, a $485,000 spending plan that requires a transfer from the district’s reserves.

Capital expenditures top the list for Indian Hills with the district budgeting $120,000 to purchase a new ambulance and $70,000 to purchase new diesel exhaust removal systems for each apparatus to protect first responders from dangerous exhaust gases such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen and sulfur compounds.

Prior to last week’s meeting, the expenditures already outpaced the district revenues by approximately $24,000.

However, since the district has more than $700,000 in reserves, the board agreed the expenses were necessary.
