Brandon Payer, a standout at Colorado State University-Pueblo and a Conifer High School graduate, might soon be headed to the NFL.
With the draft April 25-27, the inside linebacker and Pine native was recently invited to the Denver Broncos pro day training camp, where he showcased his skills for the local professional team’s coaches and staff.
He’s hoping that experience can translate into a position on the team, even if that means he has to sign on as a free agent after the draft. Payer said he talked to roughly 25 NFL teams in his final season with the Thunderwolves, where he spent five years because he redshirted his true freshman year.
