Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery was named the Citizen of the Year for 2018 during the Lyle Wohlers Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon on May 15.
The organization, which was nominated by Clear Creek County Dispatch, has saved numerous people and vehicles in the county that were stuck where law enforcement agencies and tow companies couldn’t reach them, Undersheriff Bruce Snelling said during the awards ceremony at Blackstone Rivers Ranch.
The Citizen of the Year award was one of five awards given at the luncheon named in honor of State Patrolman Lyle F. Wohlers, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop.
Matt Radder, the organization’s president, said he and his fellow volunteers were humbled by the award and by the support of the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office.
There are no paid members, and the group’s efforts are funded through donations, membership dues and sponsorships, according to Radder.
