Teenage climber dies in Clear Creek Canyon

An 18-year-old Greenwood Village woman has died after a climbing accident in Clear Creek Canyon on Thursday.

According to the Clear Creek Undersheriff Bruce Snelling, Lauren Guthrie was climbing in the canyon just west of Tunnel 5 and north of Clear Creek, an area locally called the North Cat Slab, with another teenage climber.

Around 2:50 p.m., while Guthrie was rappelling, she fell, according to Snelling.
