Despite no chief and no administrator, Clear Creek EMS’ three captains say morale is high as staff members become more engaged and willing to help with special projects.
During a May 28 work session with the county commissioners, Capt. Bryon Monseu said while he and his fellow captains are learning the system since former Chief Nicolena Johnson left in April, they’ve told their coworkers that the transition will be a group effort. Everyone now has side jobs to do in addition to running calls, he said.
“They feel more invested in it,” Monseu said of the department. “Morale’s as good as I’ve seen it in quite a while. They want to be part of it; and they feel like they’re being listened to.”
More importantly, the captains explained, Clear Creek EMS will have a full staff of medics and EMTs this year, which hasn’t been the case recently; and the agency has moved everything from the county building in Georgetown to the Dumont station.
