Jeffco Public Schools approved a $1.24 billion budget, although the district has not yet reached an agreement with the Jefferson County Education Association, its teachers union.
Among other things, the budget for the 2019-20 school year includes $17.2 million in district-wide compensation increases. Broken down the compensation increases equate to about 7 percent, including a 2.67 percent increase approved earlier this year from the 5A mill levy funds, 2.9 percent in steps, levels and lanes and a 1.5 percent cost-of-living adjustment.
Other new expenditures include ongoing costs of $97,000 in the form of a mandated increase for athletics and activities, $236,626 to hire full-time safety and security campus supervisors and $659,380 to create dropout safety nets, which maintain programming that provides pathways for students who’ve dropped out or are at risk of dropping out.
