City approves annexing, rezoning for Argo gondola

The Idaho Springs City Council approved annexing 21.5 acres of mining claims associated with the Argo Mill and rezoning those properties, Virginia Canyon Mountain Park and portions of the Argo Mill to planned development to allow for a gondola and other items.
During its June 10 meeting, the council approved the motion 4-0, with council member Bob Bowland recusing himself.
Before a gondola or any infrastructure can be built on the properties, the site must go through a final development plan, which will involve public meetings before the Planning Commission and the City Council.
