A 35-year-old Denver man was fatally shot around noon on Tuesday in an apartment complex near West Belleview Avenue and South Alkire Street in South Jeffco following a standoff with law enforcement.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mike Taplin, the suspect, Michael Sheridan, had been wanted on charges of felony menacing, third-degree assault and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. There were multiple warrants out for his arrest.
“Once the SWAT team was on scene and attempted to apprehend the suspect, shots were fired from the suspect and officers returned fire and fatally wounded the suspect,” Taplin said in a press conference.
