From Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District:

ICFPD is deeply saddened to have to announce the unexpected passing of long time member Randy Rudloff.

Randy has been with Inter-Canyon for over 25 years, and was a major pillar in our foothills community. He will be most remembered for his caring and compassion to everyone he met, as well as his genuine smile and willingness to step in and help out at a moment's notice. Services will be held this Saturday, details for that event are still in work, we will provide more information as things get finalized.

Thank you, Randy, for your friendship and everything that you did for us!

Mountain-area fire chiefs remember longtime fire marshal who died

Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District Chief Skip Shirlaw will never forget the first time he met Randy Rudloff.

Rudloff, an Inter-Canyon veteran and district fire marshal, stopped by Shirlaw’s neighbor’s home to investigate a chimney fire.

“He had the entire chimney on the ground … piecing it back together,” Shirlaw said, noting that Rudloff was intent on finding out exactly what happened and why. “(It was just) well beyond anything you would expect from someone doing a fire investigation.”

He was kind and compassionate but also meticulous and hard working. Rudloff would often beat Shirlaw to the station in the morning — and the chief likes to think he’s a morning person — and Rudloff would frequently be there when he left.

Ask a question about a fire code, and Rudloff could likely name the exact code number and its history. He was a wealth of knowledge on all things fire.
