IDAHO SPRINGS — Early into his 120-mile bike ride through the Rocky Mountains, Derek Francois found a few minutes to enjoy the beauty of Clear Creek County as he stopped at the Frothy Cup for a cup of coffee with his wife. After all, he had just completed the trek over Juniper Pass, with two passes ahead of him.

His second crack at the Triple Bypass was going off without a hitch on the warm and sunny Saturday morning.

“We found this ride, and it seemed like a fun, good challenge and ever since, we’ve kind of been hooked on cycling,” said the 29-year-old Denver native. “I like the all-day (event) out here. It’s tough but fun.”
