Authorities confirmed Thursday evening that firefighters have contained a wildfire less than an acre in size in the Downieville area north of Interstate 70.
The Mill Creek Fire burned approximately half an acre, the county's Office of Emergency Management reported via Twitter. The fire is believed to have been caused by lightning from storms on Wednesday night, a Clear Creek Sheriff's Office press release stated.
