Sheriff’s Office benefits from rifles donated by nonprofit

In late 2017, the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office applied for a grant from law enforcement-focused nonprofit Spirit of Blue for five new patrol rifles.

In 2018, the grant application was approved, and the AR-15 rifles, slings, sights and magazines were delivered to CCSO headquarters in Georgetown.

And, on Aug. 13, a representative from Spirit of Blue got to see those rifles at work with the Clear Creek County deputies.

The nonprofit, which is based in New York but has members throughout the country, offers grant funding for equipment, such as tourniquets and body cameras, Pruitt explained. Spirit of Blue, which was founded in 2011, works to ensure that police departments and sheriff’s offices that demonstrate great need have all the tools necessary for the job, he continued.
