Will Devine was 14 years old when he taught himself to juggle. He was grounded and recalls learning in the time it took to make it through both sides of Thin Lizzy’s “Jailbreak” album.
However, it wasn’t until last year when the Conifer resident truly learned about the benefits of the activity. While sitting in the hospital with his son, Daniel, who was battling an auto-immune disorder called Guillain-Barre, Devine began juggling. He soon realized that it not only served as a good distraction, but it actually made him feel better.
That realization led to some research, and Devine quickly found several studies on the effects of juggling have been done.
Further, a Japanese study done in 2007 found that juggling could be an effective treatment for those with anxiety disorders.
