Cindy Davy and her grandchildren love the playground at Clement Park, but they hadn’t visited in awhile. When she heard about all the improvements, however, Davy knew it was time to bring the kiddos to play.
The renovations, part of an $8.7 million redevelopment project at Clement Park, included improvements to the west side of Foothills Park and Recreation District’s community park in South Jeffco. In addition to the playground, which is inclusive and accessible to all, Foothills improved lighting and restrooms, installed a new irrigation system and festival area, made improvements to the Grant Amphitheater and improved water quality in the Johnston Reservoir. The district also improved access for pedestrians and those who require it under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
While all of the improvements are exciting, the inclusivity of it all is truly what makes the playground special. The playground serves children of all ages and abilities, including those with autism, sensory processing disorders, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and other intellectual and physical disabilities.
