The U.S. Forest Service is asking for the public’s help in identifying a group that reportedly held an illegal fireworks display on Mount Evans early Monday morning.

According to USFS spokeswoman K. Reid Armstrong, a group known as Nationwide Productions organized a cruise or ride from the Morrison area to the summit of Mount Evans on Sunday night. More than 140 people participated in the event according to a social media post, Armstrong said. Some of those people have posted photos and video online of the fireworks being launched from the summit.

All fireworks and pyrotechnics are illegal in national forests, Armstrong said. The maximum penalty for discharging them is six months in jail, a $5,000 fine or both. There is also a $280 citation for fireworks specifically.
