New law enables county to regulate aspects of mobile home parks

Clear Creek now has the power to enact ordinances regarding mobile home parks’ quality of life and health and safety issues thanks to a law approved by the state Legislature.

“This is something that has been frustrating to the county in the past. Whatever situation we’ve been in, our hands have been tied in a lot of ways,” Clear Creek Housing Coordinator Sally Rush said. “… If we can take a look at improving the mobile home parks, it will improve the county.”

During an Aug. 20 work session with the county commissioners, staff members clarified that any ordinances allowed under the new Mobile Home Park Act wouldn’t affect the homes themselves because they are private residences but rather the parks and ensuring access to utilities.
