EPRD looking at solutions to allow watercraft on Evergreen Lake

The Evergreen Park & Recreation District hopes to find a solution that would allow patrons to use watercraft at Evergreen Lake when the lake’s staff members are not working while still maintaining water quality and safety.

However, that solution won’t be put into place until next year, according to staff at an EPRD board meeting on Aug. 27, so the lake will remain closed to watercraft for the rest of the fall season.

“It’s sad that locals can’t be out there (on the lake),” said lake supervisor Stacy Lohr. “It’s something they’ve been able to have as a benefit, but times have changed. … We have to be thoughtful to implement a plan fully.”

Board members said they’ve received phone calls and e-mails from area residents upset that the lake was closed to all watercraft.
