Olde-timers: Four generations have operated Olde’s Garage for 98 years

In 1921, the Tomb of the Unknowns was dedicated at Arlington National Cemetery, baseball legend Babe Ruth broke the all-time home run record and Warren G. Harding was president.


And Olde’s Garage opened on Main Street in downtown Evergreen. Considered the oldest business owned by one family here, the auto-repair shop now sits at the corner of Evergreen Parkway and Bryant Drive.

Herman Olde opened the station where Creekside Cellars now is, and it was one of four businesses that stayed open year-round to serve locals. Evergreen was a resort town at the time.
