USFS prepares for prescribed burn near Empire

13 Sep 2019 16:57 #1 by ClearCreekCourant
The U.S. Forest Service hopes that sometime this fall, the Blue Creek/Mad Creek area near Empire will be on fire — in a good way.

The agency is planning a prescribed burn to improve the area as a habitat for bighorn sheep and to better protect Empire from wildfire.

The burn will only include Forest Service land. No private property will be affected. There will be road closures in the Mad Creek area when the burn takes place, USFS personnel confirmed.
