Carlson students honor Sugar Plum proprietor at ice cream social

Idaho Springs’ Sugar Plum fairy is gone, but her family and the community feel that her sweetness still remains.


Buddie Mees, a long-time Springs resident and owner of the Sugar Plum restaurant, died on Aug. 18. Her family members on organized an Aug. 30 ice cream social for students at Carlson Elementary to honor her memory.

Principal Marcia Jochim said she appreciated Mees’ family members putting together this positive event for the school community to enjoy.
