Blanketed in honor: Conifer vets receive Quilts of Valor

Members of Conifer’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12009 came to the Mountain Resource Center last week expecting an ordinary meeting. Instead, they were in for a treat.


Unbeknownst to the veterans in his Post, Commander Kirk Rosa coordinated with the Mountain Maverick Quilters group to plan a surprise. After months of arduous work, the mountain-area quilting group presented each VFW Post member with a Quilt of Valor, crafted by hand in variations of America’s signature red, white and blue.

“I wasn’t expecting this,” said veteran Rich Mahan following the quilt presentation.
