Downtown Evergreen is beloved by locals, tourists and businesses alike, but it needs a lot of attention to bring it to its full potential, a panel of experts told locals on Friday.

“Downtown Evergreen is an interesting place,” said John Koval, who led the group called a Technical Advisory Panel that spent two days here to look at a variety of downtown issues. He is director of development at Coburn Development in Boulder.

“It’s an interesting place. Much of it was developed before (county) codes and rules were enacted. It has a lot of geography constraints — the canyon, the creek. It has lots of complexities. We looked at how to maintain the great historical character, yet keep it safe, modern and functional.”
