Xcel pitches tower for its parkway building

Xcel Energy wants to erect a 190-foot tower on its property on Evergreen Parkway to help improve its internal network communication.

The pole, which would be 36 inches wide at the bottom and 16 inches wide at the top, would be galvanized so light wouldn’t reflect off it and would be placed on the northwest corner of the Xcel building. At the top would be a lightning rod and a communications panel that would be 29 inches high, 8 inches wide and 5 inches deep.

Xcel hasn’t applied for a Jefferson County permit yet, although it has erected similar towers elsewhere in Jeffco. Once it applies for the permit and if it is approved, Xcel will take about three weeks to erect the tower. During the county’s approval process, the public will have the opportunity to endorse or oppose the tower.
