Idaho Springs, Argo agree to access easements for VCMP

The City of Idaho Springs, Argo Holdings LLC and Mary Jane Loevlie — an Argo co-owner — have agreed to three access easements between the Argo Gold Mill, Virginia Canyon Mountain Park and Loevlie’s personal property adjacent to the top of the park.

The City Council approved the easements at its Sept. 23 meeting. City Planner Alan Tiefenbach explained the easements are necessary for the city to apply for a $250,000 Colorado Parks & Wildlife grant, which will go toward building the first 3.5 miles of trail. The grant submission deadline was Tuesday.

The southernmost easements allow for the city to access the park by going across the Argo property, and the other allows the Argo to build, maintain and use its gondola and its landing site, both of which will be on VCMP land.
