EFR to move up timeline for relocating Station 1
Evergreen Fire/Rescue expects to move up its timeline to move Fire Station 1 because Jefferson County hopes to make improvements to Highway 73 starting in 2022.

The fire department has been purchasing the land where La Cuisine of Evergreen Catering is across from Evergreen Library to build a new station, but the department thought it had several years before needing to make the move.

District wants permission to mitigate along county roads
The fire district is asking Jefferson County commissioners for permission to do fire mitigation along county roads to make them safer for Evergreen residents if they were fleeing a wildfire.

Consortium applying for wildfire-preparedness grant
Evergreen Fire/Rescue is part of a consortium applying for a Rocky Mountain Restoration Initiative grant that would provide much-needed dollars for wildfire preparedness.

The consortium is called the Upper South Platte Partnership, and it includes different agencies from North Evergreen to Deckers and covers 150,000 acres. The application is due Oct. 24, and the partnership should know in 2020 whether it receives the grant.
