The bridge replacement into the Evergreen Lake House parking lot is set to begin Monday, depending on weather, with the work expected to be completed by mid-January.
While organizers of Evergreen’s New Year’s celebrations — the Skate the Lake Winter Festival and the Evergreen Lake Plunge — hope the weather will cooperate and the work will be done before Dec. 31, they are creating alternative plans so both events will go on. However, they aren’t ready to divulge the details yet because they’re still in the planning stages.
The bridge was damaged in the 2013 flood, and the $1.1 million replacement is being funded by the City of Denver, Evergreen Park and Recreation District, Evergreen Metropolitan District and grants. Myers and Sons Construction based in Castle Rock will perform the work.
