Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the person or persons who shot and killed a cat belonging to an Idaho Springs family over the weekend.
According to Idaho Springs Police Chief Chris Malanka, a local cat was shot by what is believed to have been a pellet gun sometime Friday or early Saturday near the 200 block of Virginia Street. A reward of $2,600 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and prosecution in the case.
A Facebook post by Sandi Schuessler described how the family's cat, named Felix, was found wounded by her neighbors. He was taken to a veterinary clinic, but died Sunday evening. Schuessler asked for the community's help in identifying those responsible, saying she wants to keep other pets and families safe from harm.
