Dinosaur Ridge After Dark’s goal is to make science exciting for all ages

Have you ever wondered what color a Tyrannosaurus rex is? Would you guess red? Maybe brown? What about forest green?


This is the question Kat Rivers, education assistant at Dinosaur Ridge, posed to those in attendance at Dinosaur Ridge After Dark last Thursday. In actuality, the answer is pretty simple: No one knows for certain.

At Dinosaur Ridge After Dark, held a few times a year, Rivers hopes to make science exciting for all ages. Often, she said, museums are geared toward families with young children, which can result in adults feeling bored or left out.

“My goal is just to entertain the 18-plus crowd. Get them excited about science, but specifically geology and paleontology,” she said.

As part of that goal, she began Dinosaur Ridge After Dark, which incorporates science and fun, hands-on activities.
