Longtime participants reflect on Christmas Market’s 60th year

For four days every December, Georgetown’s historic downtown transforms into a corner of Europe.

It looks like Sweden, in particular when a group of children walk down Taos Street in the traditional St. Lucia’s Children Procession and sing in Swedish.

Georgetown’s annual Christmas Market was modeled after the ones in Europe. And thanks to several Swedish immigrants, their descendants and other Georgetown residents, it still carries on those Old-World traditions.
