Evergreen remembers veterans as part of annual Wreaths Across America ceremony

The area’s soldiers who gave their lives for the country are not forgotten — and representatives of American Legion Post 2001 and the Evergreen Elks Lodge proved it once again on Saturday.


Volunteers placed 210 wreaths on posts in Evergreen Memorial Park during a Wreaths Across America ceremony. Scott Coffer, Post 2001 past commander, explained its purpose: to remember the fallen, to honor those who have and are serving in the military, and to teach young people the value of freedom.

A similar ceremony was conducted at Bear Creek Cemetery at which 65 wreaths were placed on soldiers’ graves. More than 1,700 ceremonies took place simultaneously across the country.
