Residents tell Jeffco planners that water policies should be different in the fo

The top suggestion from community members who provided feedback on the Jeffco comprehensive master plan’s proposed water policies is that they should be different for those living in the foothills compared with those living on the plains.

Those attending meetings recently in Evergreen and Conifer said the water uses and needs change depending on the area’s typography, and the Jeffco plains have municipal water sources compared with most of the foothills that draw on wells for water.

Both groups agreed that especially when looking at proposed policies on water conservation by design or by landscaping, things were markedly different between mountains and plains.

In Conifer, participants said they were more concerned about protection of wells, especially in light of proposed residential developments.
